SDUHSD high schools offered an in-person administration of the PSAT/NMSQT on Saturday, October 17; 1,012 11th grade students registered and 902 students chose to participate.

In response to the ongoing pandemic, the College Board has offered flexible options to accommodate in-person testing. This year, the College Board announced an optional second PSAT administration date on January 26.

For multiple reasons, SDUHSD will not be able to offer the optional second PSAT administration in January.

  • January 26 is our district-wide in-service day which was previously planned and included in our 2020-2021 SDUHSD instructional calendar. As a result, we are not able to accommodate testing on our campuses on that day. All SDUHSD staff members will be engaged in professional learning and work required to begin the spring semester.

  • Our school facilities will be in use for professional learning for our staff and we will not have the space and settings needed to offer a safe and compliant testing environment.

  • We will not be able to secure proctors and comply with the College Board's regulations related to exam proctor qualifications and required proctor-to-student ratios. Currently employed SDUHSD certificated and classified staff and substitutes serve as proctors for the PSAT/NMSQT. We do not have the option to utilize SDUHSD staff to serve as PSAT/NMSQT proctors on January 26.

  • Only current SDUHSD employees are able to serve as PSAT/NMSQT proctors. All test proctors who will be directly supervising students and/or working on one of the district campuses, even for one day, need to go through the Live Scan process to be fingerprinted. The organizations who offer this service charge a $76 fee to the applicant. All current staff have already completed this process. If we recruit and hire test proctors who are not currently employed by SDUHSD, they would have to pay the Live Scan fee and be fingerprinted. The cost to the applicant to meet this legal requirement makes it challenging to recruit sufficient personnel for a short term, one day position such as a PSAT proctor.
