TRUSTEE AREA 5 - SPECIAL ELECTION UPDATE (11/5/21)

Congratulations to Julie Bronstein on being elected as our Area 5 Board of Trustee. We hope to confirm her at the SDUHSD Regular Board Meeting on November 18, 2021, pending the official notice from the Registrar of Voters.

TRUSTEE AREA 5 - SPECIAL ELECTION UPDATE (7/15/21)

When will the special election occur? Per the Education Code, the county superintendent of schools shall order a special election to be conducted no later than the 130th day after the determination. However, if an established election date, as defined in Section 1000 of the Elections Code, occurs between the 130th day and the 150th day following the order of the election, the county superintendent of schools may order the special election to be conducted on the established election date.
 
The Special Election for Trustee Area 5 will occur on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Additional information will be added on the District website as it becomes available. Members of the community may also find information at the San Diego Regstrar of Voters at https://www.sdvote.com/.

TRUSTEE AREA 5 - UPDATE (6/10/21)

On April 22, 2021, the Board made a provisional appointment of Trustee Ty Humes for Trustee Area 5 pursuant to Education Code section 5091(a). Yesterday evening (June 9, 2021), the San Diego County Superintendent of Schools notified the District that pursuant to Education Code section 5091(c)(2), a petition to hold a special election for Trustee Area 5 was deemed legally sufficient thereby ending the provisional appointment.

We currently do not have a date of the special election, but we will continue to update this information on the District website as it becomes available.
