San Dieguito Union High School District is hiring school bus drivers!  If you are looking to become a school bus driver, but don't have the neccesary training or license, we can help.  SDUHSD is offering a PAID training program for those who are interested in becoming a school bus driver.  The training program includes both classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training. 
 
School Bus Drivers provide a great service to the children of our community.  If you are looking for a rewarding career or just part-time work, becoming a school bus driver is a great opportunity.

Part 1: Classroom instruction, approximately 9 classes, approximately 4 hours in length at our Transportation Department located in Encinitas. 
 
Once part 1 is completed, trainees can work additional hours as a van driver. 
 
Participants who successfully complete this part of the program will advance to the Behind-the-Wheel Training.
 
Part 2: Behind-the-Wheel Training, 30 hours individually scheduled based on availability of instructors and participants.
 
Instructors will guide participants through the required DMV and California Highway Patrol licensing process.
 
Participants who successfully complete the training and licensing process can apply for current vacancies as a School Bus Driver with the District and may be selected for immediate or future openings.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
To qualify to be a trainee, candidates will need to complete a DOT physical and drug screen, provide a California Driver's Record Report, and be cleared through the FMCSA DOT Clearinghouse.  Valid Adult CPR and First Aid Certifications are also required.
 
The hourly rate for this position, including training, is $21.92/hour.  The Bus Driver Trainee is a substitute position. 
 
Once hired as a school bus driver, the hourly rate will increase to $23.61/hour and will eligble for benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance programs; generous vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay; and enrollment in the California Public Employees’ Retirement System.
