interdistrict transfers

San Dieguito Union High School District will no longer participate in interdistrict attendance agreements with other districts and therefore will no longer grant requests for interdistrict attendance permits for students into SDUHSD. Students who wish to enroll in the District must comply with the residency requirements for school attendance set forth in Education Code section 48204 and District Board Policy and Administrative Regulation 5111.1.  Nothing in this policy is intended to limit or discourage students from transferring out of the District if the school district of proposed enrollment approves the transfer.

Right to Continued Attendance for Currently Admitted Interdistrict Attendance Permit

Students attending school in the District pursuant to an existing interdistrict permit may continue to attend the high school in which the student is currently enrolled in through the end of the grade span. (Education Code 46600(a)(1).  High school selection policies and administrative regulations still apply. Existing interdistrict permits shall not be rescinded for students after June 30, 2025 following the completion of grade 10, or for students in grade 11 or 12. (Education Code 46600(a)(4))

Interdistrict Permits Out of District

A student whose parent/guardian is in active military duty shall not be prohibited from transferring out of the District, provided the school district of proposed enrollment approves the application for transfer. (Education Code 46600(d), 48307)

If the District is unable to provide an intradistrict transfer to a student who is determined to be a victim of an act of bullying pursuant to an investigation under Section 234.1 of the Education Code, the District shall not prohibit the student from transferring out of the District if the district of proposed enrollment approves the application for transfer.  (Education Code 46600(d))
