2022 CAASPP Statewide Release of Data Results

 

About the CAASPP assessments

The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) is administered through an online platform every spring.  This includes:
  • Smarter Balanced assessments (SBAC) for English language arts (ELA) and mathematics in grades 7, 8, and 11
  • California Alternate Assessment (CAAs) for ELA and Math in grades 7, 8, and 11
  • California Science Test (CAST) grades 8 and high school 
  • California Alternate Assessment (CAA) for Science in grades 8 and high school
 
The CAASPP assessments allow students to demonstrate analytical writing, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills along with their knowledge of facts in ELA, mathematics, and science.

Results from the CAASPP assessments should not be compared to the scores previously received on the Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program tests given in previous years. The CAASPP assessments involve very different types of test questions and a different approach to scoring. 

Overall state and district results will be released on the California Department of Education (CDE) website in the fall.
 

Understanding the results

After students take the Smarter Balanced assessments, their results are reported in two primary ways: scale scores and achievement levels. On this page, you can learn more about scores, as well as how achievement levels were determined and how they are used by educators and parents.
