Student Guide

How to Use this Guide

Career Pathways
is designed as a working tool to assist you in selecting your classes. Five industry sectors provide you with a broad framework to build your course of study. These are divided into pathways that fit into each sector. Concentration courses in each pathway show you classes that are offered at SDA and directly relate to your area of interest. Some classes are offered every year; other classes are offered every other year. Support classes are also suggested that will add additional skills and career exploration.  Classes that are college preparatory are noted with a “P.” ROP (Regional Occupational Programs) classes offer students community college credit. (* denotes classes that may result in certification in that field.)

In each pathway, some related careers are noted.  Businesses that have committed to providing internships, mentors, or speakers are noted as Community Partnerships. These community partners provide multiple on-going learning opportunities for students and staff, and introduce students to the real world of work.

As you read through this guide, look for an area of study or career field you are curious about. Consider exploring a career by choosing courses that fit your skills, talents, and interests. See your counselor for additional information and suggestions.
