SDUHSD CTE Happenings

Dear Parents, Students and Interested Citizens,

Thank you for your interest in Career and Technical Education (CTE) in the San Dieguito Union High School District. As you browse this web page as well as the entire CTE web site, I think you will be surprised and enthused by the exciting opportunities available to our students through Career Technical Education classes and programs of study.

The first thing you will notice is that CTE is not the "vocational education" of years ago. No longer is CTE solely for those students who have elected to transition immediately from high school to work. Instead, CTE is for all students regardless of their postsecondary plans. CTE is for the future doctor developing initial skills in high school by achieving the competencies included in our Health Essentials and Biotechnology program. CTE is for the future engineer who can begin his or her career in the Project Lead the Way Introduction to Engineering Design. CTE is for the computer programmer who wants to start in our Information Technology classes all the way through to AP Computer Science A & B. CTE is for ALL students regardless of their immediate career plans.

CTE benefits students by providing them with a true motivation to learn. Through CTE students begin to see the relevance of core subjects such as math, science and language arts as they see basic academic concepts put into action in CTE classrooms and laboratories. We like to say that CTE provides students with a reason to learn and the power to earn!

There are so many things to share with you about our CTE students and the links on the right are the most up to date and informative news stories that have been covered. With so many new things occurring almost daily, we will make every attempt to keep you informed, engaged and impressed with the students of SDUHSD and their CTE activities and learnings.
