 Welcome to Nutrition Services
  • The Nutrition Services Department, in cooperation with administration and site principals, operates the National School Lunch Program throughout the district. The program is self-supporting and does not require financial support from the district’s general fund. More than 100 employees and student workers are assigned to the individual school sites.

  • The mailing address of the district Nutrition Services Office is:
710 Encinitas Blvd, Encinitas, CA 92024.

  • The Department Mission is to provide quality food service, value, and a wide variety of food choices designed to meet the nutritional, social, and cultural needs of our customers, in a fun and educational environment.

 Catering

Five days a week, in addition to meeting our students needs, our Nutrition Services employees are hard at work creating a tantalizing array of menu items. Whether you’re planning a meeting, business breakfast or luncheon, school party, reception or other special event; select from our offerings designed to meet your catering needs. Any employee of the district can also place an order for a personal function and pick it up on your way home!

 Field Trips

Going on a field trip? Sack lunches are available from the cafeteria. Please order the day before. Lunch numbers will be accepted.

 Free and Reduced Lunch Program

The San Dieguito Union High School District takes part in the National School Lunch Program under the direction of the United States Department of Agriculture. This program provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches. Applications for free or reduced price lunch are available in English and Spanish through the links below. Applications may be submitted any time during the school year.

 Payment Options
  • Prepaid Lunch
The "PCS Dollars" prepaid lunch program is a declining-balance prepaid service account that is accessed by a personalized pin number for prepaid lunches. The PCS Dollars prepaid lunch program eliminates the need for cash on campus. Any meal or food item can be purchased, at any point of sale register, using PCS Dollars. See the link below for a form to be completed and submitted, with your check, to the Nutrition Services Supervisor at your school site.

 School Menu

School Menu 2008 - 2009

  • Note: This is the district-wide menu, which applies to each school site.

  • Menus are planned under the guidance of the Nutrition Specialist Supervisor, a Registered Dietitian, to ensure compliance with regulations established by the State of California and the United States Department of Agriculture. Feedback from school sites and student advisory committees is taken into consideration when planning menus. Students have a variety of combo meals to choose from or they may elect to purchase individual items from a broad list of available ala carte foods and beverages.

  • The district participates in the National School Lunch Program. This establishes meal/menu standards to be met. Audits and program reviews are conducted by state and federal agencies to ensure the standards are met. Participating in this program enables the district to offer free or reduced price meals to students from families meeting family size and income levels established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture each year.

  • At all school sites an automated point of sale system is in operation. Students are issued a pin number to be entered into the computer to determine their meal eligibility and to record the transaction. Students may establish a prepaid meal account and pay in advance or may elect to pay daily.

 Special Meals

In accordance with program guidance, menus can be modified to satisfy medical needs. Menus can only be modified based on a medical authority direction including recommended substitutions. Questions regarding diet modification should be directed to the Nutrition Specialist at (760) 753-6241, ext. 3425.
