Brian Köhn

Principal

Brian Köhn was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He received his Bachelor's in Music from San Francisco State University and his Master's in Music from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

Immediately following college, Mr. Köhn spent his time involved in a variety of musical activities. He conducted professional and amateur orchestras and choral ensembles throughout Southern California and Mexico. He was also commissioned to write a number of compositions for the ballet, which have since been performed across the United States.   

Brian Köhn came to the San Dieguito Union High School District five years ago. Prior to his tenure as Music Director at Torrey Pines High School, Mr. Köhn taught classes for many educational institutions including Southwestern College, San Diego Community College, and the Coronado Unified School District.

While in Coronado Mr. Köhn was one of the founding members of the Coronado School of the Arts, a nationally recognized visual and performing arts school. As a teacher Mr. Köhn has numerous credentials and has received several honors and awards - including an outstanding teacher award from UCSD. 

While in the San Dieguito Union High School District, Mr. Köhn has been involved in the development of Canyon Crest Academy for a number of years. He was a member of the New High School Task Force and the Canyon Crest Academy Planning Team. In addition, Mr. Köhn was one of the principle authors of the SSP Grant, which will be the basis for the Arts and Technology program.
