The California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) is the largest statewide survey of resiliency, protective factors, and risk behaviors in the nation. Across California, the CHKS has led to a better understanding of the relationship between students' health behaviors and academic performance, and is frequently cited by state policymakers and the media as a critical component of school improvement efforts to help guide the development of more effective health, prevention, and youth development programs.
The high school CHKS is administered in a paper/pencil format and is divided into three versions, so not all students will answer every question. The high school survey can be completed within 45-50 minutes. There is only one version of the middle school survey, so all students will answer all questions. The middle school survey will have a quicker completion time due to electronic / tablet-based administration.
All schools in San Dieguito Union High School District will administer the 2017 California Healthy Kids Survey in February/March 2017.
Please note that the High School Survey below includes questions from all three versions of the survey. High School students will take either Version A, B, or C.
