The Personnel Commission has responsibilities related to many classified (non-credentialed) personnel functions including: classification (i.e. job descriptions, out-of-class assignments, classification reviews); employment (i.e. recruiting, testing, establishment of eligibility lists, layoffs) and appeals. Please refer to the Rules & Regulations for Classified Service for detailed information.
The San Dieguito Union High School District operates under the Merit System for employment and many other classified (non-credentialed) personnel functions. Employment is contingent upon receiving a passing score on exam components designed to assess the minimum qualifications of each classification (job title). Please refer to our Frequently Asked Questions for detailed information regarding the examination process. Exams may include any combination of multiple-choice, performance, and qualifications appraisal interview components. A number of classifications include performance exams using Microsoft Excel. If you are new to Excel, or have not used it recently, a "hands on" class where you can learn and practice Excel skills is highly recommended. There are also many tutorials on Excel which can be accessed online. The link below is a good example of an Excel tutorial.
Learn Excel in 30 Minutes. Start at the beginning and play it through the lesson on sorting data (stop at 13:45 minutes). This will give you a good idea of what a basic Excel test covers. Basic Excel exams are generally a component of clerical/secretarial/administrative support classifications.
